Sunday’s Gr2 Derby Italiano (2200m) winner Tuscan Gaze is the 214th Group winner for Galileo following the Gr3 win of Nobel Prize in Ireland earlier in the day
Racing for just the third time and in new ownership, Tuscan Gaze finished determinedly from a midfield position to edge Kin’s Caper (New Approach) by a nose with Masterwin (Mastercraftsman) 1-1/4 lengths off third.
Tuscan Gaze has won all three of his starts and started his career in the UK where he was trained by John Gosden, winning a seven furlong Maiden at Newmarket last November and returning with a 3 3/4-length win over 1 1/4-miles at Newbury on June 12.
He is a half-brother to Gr2 Sapphire Stakes at The Curragh winner Caspian Prince (Dylan Thomas) and Gr2 Prix du Gros-Chene winner at Chantilly Spirit Quartz (Invincible Spirit).
Another winning half-sister Contrary (Mark Of Esteem) is the dam of Hong Kong Champion and five-time Gr1 winner Exultant (Teofilo).
