Sea The Stars forging his own path

Victory in the Prix Lyphard at Deauville made Dalgarno the 60th stakeswinner for Sea The Stars, who is now forging his own path and not simply known as the half-brother to Galileo.

A brother to Gr3 September Stakes winner Chemical Charge, Dalgarno is out of the Kingmambo mare Jakonda and Sea The Stars has two of Group 1 winners out of mares by Kingmambo (Mr Prospector) in Cloth Of Stars and Zelzal, both of whom are now at stud.

The younger half-brother to champion sire Galileo (Sadler’s Wells), Sea The Stars has excelled with mares by Sadler’s Wells (Northern Dancer), notably with Gr1 winners Stradivarius, Taghrooda, Sea The Moon and Zelzal himself out of mares carrying Sadler’s Wells.

Winner of the Gr1 Lockinge Strakes at Newbury as an older horse, Cape Cross (Green Desert) sired the Derby and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Golden Horn out of a mare by a son of Mr Prospector (Dubai Destination) with Golden Horn’s granddam by Sadler’s Wells three-quarter brother Nureyev.

Deautsches Derby winner Sea The Moon (Sea The Stars) has made a promising start to his stud career and has the German Champion Two-tear-old colt of 2018 Noble Moon and the Norsk Derby winner Privilegiado out of mares by Saadler’s Wells grandson Singspiel  as well as the French Listed winner Enjoy The Moon whose granddam is by Barathea (Sadler’s Wells).

Golden Horn already has the French Gr3 placed Gold Maze out of a Galileo mare and he has two other winners out of mares by Sadler’s Wells.

Dalgarno’s dam Jakonda is closely related to Love Me True, the dam of five-time Gr1 winner Duke Of Marmalade (Danehill), both being by Kingmambo and having Lassie Dear (Buckpasser) as their third dam.

Duke Of Marmalade’s best runner, the St Leger winner Simple Verse is out of a mare by Sadler’s Wells as is the French Gr2 winner Traffic Jam and his fine stayer Marmelo is out of a mare by In The Wings (Sadler’s Wells).

Jakonda’s granddam is by Belong To Me (Danzig) and the third dam Weekend Surprise (Secretariat) was a gifted and durable runner herself but surpassed herself at stud leaving two classic winners in 1990 Preakness Stakes winner Summer Squall (Stoem Bird) and the 1992 Belmont Stakes winner A P Indy (Seattle Slew).
