Saturday’s Gr3 Sirenia Stakes (6f) at Kempton winner Mighty Gurkha is SW18 for Sepoy.
Taking the lead after the first furlong, Might Gurkha made all the running and although tiring late on did enough to hold out Cloudbridge (Hard Spun) and win by a nose with Mystery Smiles (Mehmas) close up in third.
Bought back as a yearling, Mighty Gurkha is now the winner of two of his five races for trainer Archie Watson.
He is the only named foal of Royal Debt (Royal Applause), an unraced sister to the Gr3 Diomed Stakes at Epsom runner-up Dance And Dance and a half-sister to Hong Kong Listed winner and Gr1 placed Rewarding Hero (Exceed And Excel).
Champion 2yo Sepoy (Elusive Quality) shuttled between Darley studs in New South Wales and England and now stands at Darley’s Victoria base at Northwood Park where his fee in 2020 is advertised at $10,000.
