Leopoldina is SW19 for Sepoy winning Sunday’s Grosser Preis der Burckhardt (1600m) at Hannover.

Leopoldina made all the running and went further clear into the home straight to defeat Lips Eagle (Gleneagles) by two lengths with Nona (Pastorius) in third.

A 15,000gns Tattersalls foal, the Petches Farm-bred Leopoldina is now the winner of three of her five races.

She is a half-sister to Italian Listed placed Yakima (Dutch Art), their dam Lady’s Art (Verglas) a winning sister to Listed Prix Finlande at Longchamp winner Chill, the dam od Listed Prix Rose de Mai at Saint-Cloud winner Childa (Duke Of Marmalade), herself the dam of Gr3 Prix la Force at Longchamp winner Chilean (Iffraaj).

Lady’s Art is also a three-quarter sister to Gr3 Prix du Lys at Chantilly winner Remus de la Tour (Stormy River).

Australian Champion 2yo Sepoy (Elusive Quality) shuttled to England and is now a permanent resident at Darley’s Victorian property where he is advertised at $7,700.
