Mandaloun is SW87 for Into Mischief winning Saturday’s Gr2 Risen Star Stakes (8.5f) at Fair Grounds.
Blinkers had the desired effect on Mandaloun who settled three wide in a midfield position to the final turn where he swept up three wide and then finished best to defeat Proxy (Tapit) and Midnight Bourbon (Tiznow).
It is the third win from four starts for the Brad Cox-trained Juddmonte-homebred.
Mandaloun is one of two winners out of Gr2 Ridgewood Pearl Stakes at The Curragh winner Brooch (Empire Maker), a half-sister to Irish Listed winner Caponata (Selkirk).
The granddam Daring Diva (Dansili) won the Listed Criterium de Vitesse at Chantilly and a sister to Gr1 Matron Stakes at The Curragh winner Emulous and Gr3 Prix Gontaut-Biron at Deauville winner First Sitting.
Daring Diva is also a three-quarter sister to Awe Struck (Rail Link), the unraced dam of German Gr3 winner Alounak (Camelot).
Into Mischief is advertised at $225,000 at Spendthrift Farm in 2021. He has enjoyed good success with mares from the Mr Prospector sire-line including Gr1 winners Goldencents, Authentic, Practical Joke, Covfefe and Mia Mischief.
