Steinem is SW83 for Frankel winning the Gr3 Summoned Stakes (1600m) for mares at Caulfield.
Looming three wide around the home turn, Steinem held the persistent challenge of Quantum Mechanic (Deep Field) on her outside to score.
Bred by Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock, the four-year-old Steinem sold for $400,000 as an Inglis Australian Easter yearling and is now the winner of three of her eight races.
She has close duplications of Danehill (3×3) and Sadler’s Wells (3×4) with her granddam Alsace Lorraine (Giant’s Causeway) the winner of the Listed Upavon Stakes at Salisbury.
The third-dam Mer de Corail (Sadler’s Wells) won the Listed Prix d’Automne at Longchamp and the fourth dam Miss Tahiti (Tirol) winner of the Gr1 Prix Marcel Boussac Criterium des Pouliches.
Frankel of course is out of a Danehill mare and currently has 10 winners from 13 runners out of mares by Dansili (Danehill) with three stakes winners including Gr3 winners Majestic Glory and Dreamflight.
Frankel also has Australian Gr1 winner Miss Fabulass out of a mare by Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) as well as Group winners Light Refrain, Cunco and Learn By Heart with duplications of Danehill.
