Magical Lagoon is SW342 for Galileo winning Friday’s Gr3 Flame Of Tara Stakes (8f) for 2yo fillies at The Curragh.
Fourth on debut, Magical Lagoon had only one behind her with two furlongs to travel but knuckled down strongly over the concluding stages to run past Albula (Galileo) and score by three-quarters of a length with Lullaby (Galileo) two lengths away third on debut.
Magical Lagoon cost Zhang Yuesheng 305,000gns as a Tattersalls October yearling and is a half-sister to four-time Gr1 winner Novellist (Monsun) and the a trio of stakes-placed winners including Ninfea (Selkirk), the dam of Gr2 Prix Chaudenay at ParisLongchamp runner-up Nemean Lion (Golden Horn).
Magical Lagoon’s dam Night Lagoon (Lagunas) was rated the Champion 2YO Filly in Germany in 2003 when her wins included the Gr3 Preis der Winterkonigin. She is a half-sister to German Listed winner Night Tango (Acatenango).
Galileo, who died last month aged 23, is the sire of 16 stakes winners this year including Gr1 winners Bolshoi Ballet, Empress Josephine, Joan Of Arc and Love.
