First for Shalaa

No Speak Alexander is the first Gr1 winner for Shalaa winning Saturday’s Matron Stakes at  Leopardstown.

Settled in third place to the home turn as Shale set the pace, No Speak Alexander gradually asserted her superiority over Shale to strike the front a furlong out with Mother Earth and Pearls Galore looking to come through along the inside.

At the line No Speak Alexander defeated Pearls Galore (Invincible Spirit) by a neck with Mother Earth (Zoffany) a length and a quarter away third.

Stewards’ enquired into the incident and while Shane Foley was handed a suspension the result stood.

It is the third win from nine starts for No Speak Alexander, the first winner out of the Listed Prix La Flèche at Chantilly winner Rapacity Alexander (Dandy Man), a sister to the Gr1 Hong Kong Sprint winner and Champion Sprinter in Hong Kong in 2014-15 Peniaphobia.

Rapacity Alexander is also a half-sister to Gr3 Molecomb Stakes third Safari Sunset (Fayruz)

No Speak Alexander carries three strains of Danzig and Shalaa (Invincible Spirit) has Australian Gr3 winner Shaquero bred similarly out of a mare by Not A Single Doubt.

Gr1 winner Shalaa is advertised at €15,000 at Haras de Bouquetot in 2021.
