Friday’s Queen’s Vase (14f) at Royal Ascot winner Santiago is SW33 for Authorized.
Waited with off a strong early pace by Ryan Moore, Santiago came with a strong run to strike the front inside the final two furlongs before drawing away to defeat Berkshire Rocco (Sir Percy) by 2-3/4 lengths with Al Dabaran (Dubawi) a further 8-1/2 lengths off in third.
Santiago is the first foal of Wadyhatta (Cape Cross), a winner twice in France before selling for €275,000 at the 2016 Arqana Summer Sale.
Wadyhatta is a half-sister to Gr1 Prix du Jockey-Club third Motamarris (Le Havre) as well as French Listed placed Saraaba (New Approach) and Riqa (Dubawi), the latter the dam of Gr3 Prix de Cabourg at Deauville winner Tantheem (Teofilo).
The granddam Thamaret (Anabaa) won at two in France and placed in the Listed Prix Yacowlef at Deaville, she a half-sister to Gr1 Prix Jacues le Marois winner and sire Tamayuz (Nayef).
Epsom Derby winner Authorized (Montjeu) started his stud career England under the Darley banner and also shuttled to Australia. He transferred to the Haras du Logis in France in 2014 before being sold to the Jockey Club of Turkey in 2019.
