Kinross is SW29 for Kingman winning the Hyde Stakes (8f) on the all-weather surface at Kempton.
Reserved off the early speed as Johan set the pace, Kinross was last into the home straight but able to find running room towards the rail late on and rushed home over the final furlong to defeat Khuzaam (Kitten’s Joy) going away by three-quarters of a length with Via Serendipity (Invincible Spirit) close up third.
It is the second win from seven starts for the Julian Richmond-Watson homebred which finished sixth in the 2000 Guineas behind Kameko.
He is a half-brother to three minor winners out of Ceilidh House (Selkirk), winner of the Listed Gillies Stakes at Doncaster. She is a half-sister to Villa Sonata, the dam of Gr3 Solario Stakes at Sandown winner and Poule d’Essai des Poulains runner-up First Selection (Diktat).
The granddam Villa Carlotta (Rainbow Quest) won Listed races in Ireland and Italy and is a half-sister to Gr2 Virginia Derby at Colonial Downs winner Battle Of Hastings (Royal Applause).
The third-dam Subya (Night Shift) won three times at Listed level in England including the Star Stakes at Sandown at two.
Kinross is the second stakes winner for Kingman out of a Selkirk (Sharpen Up) mare. He has French Listed winner Twist ’N’ Shake with Rainbow Quest as her maternal grandsire and this year’s dual Gr1 winner Palace Pier has Night Shift (Northern Dancer) as his maternal grandsire.
