Wirko is SW33 for Kingman winning the Blue Riband Trial (10f) at Epsom.

Wirko finished stoutly over the concluding two furlongs to master Technique (Mastercraftsman) in the final strides to score by a head with Uncle Bryn (Sea The Stars) in third.

It is the second win from three starts for the Gestut Rottgen-bred Wirko, a €700,000 BBAG yearling and the second top lot at the 2019 sale.

He is the second foal of three-time German Listed winner Weltmacht (Mount Nelson), also second in the Gr2 Diana Trial at Hoppegarten. She is a half-sister to Champion Older Female Stayer Wild Coco )Shirocco), winner of the Gr2 Park Hill Stakes, the German Gr2-placed Wildrrossel (Dalakhani) and German Listed-placed Wild Silva (Silvano).

The granddam Wild Side (Sternkonig) won the Gr2 Europachampionat at Hoppegarten and a half-sister to Gr2 Deutsches St Leger winner Win For Us (Surumu), the dam of Listed winners Win For Sure (Stravinsky) and Why Not (Konigstiger), and to Gr3 Prix Miesque winner White Rose (Platini), the dam of UK Listed winner Elite Army (Authorized).

Kingman has done well with mares from the Danehill-line notably Gr1 winner Persian King, Gr3 winners Chachnak and Cormorant and Listed winners Love Is You, Megallan, Queen Of Love and Parent’s Prayer while Gr3 winner Sangarius has Danehill as his maternal grandsire.
