Mackinnon is SW21 for American Pharoah winning Monday’s Del Mar Juvenile Turf (8f) for 2yos.
Content to race three wide by Juan Hernandez, Mackinnon found more in the home straight and came away to defeat Thirty Four Coupe (Run Away And Hide) by one and three-quarter lengths with Silver Surfer (Caravaggio) a nose away third.
Mackinon sold for $200,000 as a Fasig-Tipton weanling then made $285,000 privately as a Fasig-Tipton 2YO in training. He is now the winner of two of his four starts.
Mackinnon is the first Graded winner in the immediate generations of his family.
He is the second foal of Scat Means Go (Scat Daddy), a winner at two in North America and third in the Gr3 Eight Belles Stakes at Churchill Downs.
The third-dam Ashley Anne’s Wish (You And I) was Listed placed and a half-sister to Listed winner Knot So Clever (Twining).
Triple Crown winner American Pharoah shuttles between Coolmore Studs in Kentucky and Australia.
