11 for American Pharoah

Van Gogh is SW11 and the first European Gr1 winner for American Pharoah winning Saturday’s Criterium International (1600m) at Saint-Cloud.

Settled at the rear before halfway, Van Gogh swung widest of all into the home straight and went clear, staying on strongly to defeat Normandy Bridge (Le Havre) comfortably by four lengths with the favourite Jadoomi (Holy Roman Emperor) third.

Van Gogh is a half-brother to Gr1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere winner Horatio Nelson (Danehill), Gr2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket winner Kitty Matcham (Rock Of Gibraltar), Gr3 Longacres Mile at Emerald Downs winner Point Piper (Giant’s Causeway) and Irish Listed winner Viscount Nelson (Giant’s Causeway).

Their dam Imagine (Sadlers Wells) won The Oaks at Epsom and the Irish 1000 Gns and a sister Irish Listed winner Strawberry Roan and half-sister to Champion Generous (Caerleon)

US Triple Crown winner American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile) shuttles between Coolmore studs in Kentucky and Australia.

He also has this year’s Gr2 Park Hill Stakes winner Pista and US Listed winner Another Miracle out of Sadler’s Wells-line mares.
