Thursday’s Vinnie Roe Stakes (14f) at Leopardstown winner Pista is SW10 for American Pharoah.
Pista was last around the home turn and then finished powerfully to defeat Sunchart (Teofilo) by half a length with Dawn Patrol (Galileo) the same distance away in third.
A $675,000 Keeneland yearling, the Joseph O’Brien-trained Pista only made her debut on June 21 and is now the winner of two of her three races.
Her dam Mohini (Galileo) placed in Ireland and a half-sister to Listed-placed Ratiocination (Excelebration) and French winner Beta Leo, the dam of Gr1 Prix de Diane winner Senga (Blame) and French Listed winner Bolting (War Front).
The granddam is French Champion 2yo Filly of 2003 Denebola (Storm Cat).
US Triple Crown winner American Pharoah is enjoying good success with mares carrying Mr Prospector as evidenced by Sweet Melania, Four Wheel Drive, Cafe Pharoah, Turned Aside, Maven and Danon Pharaoh.
American Pharoah’s sire Pioneerof The Nile (Empire Maker) has Grade 1 winner Classic Empire with a duplication of Mr Prospector and out of a mare by a son of Storm Cat and Empire Maker (Fappiano) has Grade 1 winner Eight Rings out of a mare by Pure Prize, a son of Storm Cat out of a mare by Seeking The Gold (Mr Prospector).
Pista is inbred 4×3 to Storm Cat and American Pharoah also has Gr2 Sweet Melania and Listed winners Ocean Atlantique and Danon Pharaoh with duplications of Storm Cat.
