Algiers is SW150 for Shamardal winning Wednesday’s Prix Turenne (2400m) at Saint-Cloud.
Enjoying an uncontested lead, Algiers quickened up into the home straight and stayed on strongly to hold out Zeyrek (Sea The Stars) by 1-3/4 lengths with Dick Whittington (War Command) another 1-1/4 lengths away third.
It is the second win from six starts for the Godolphin homebred, trained by Andre Fabre.
A half-brother to two winners, Algiers is the best winner to date out of dual Gr3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom winner and three-time Gr1 placed Antara (Platini), rated the Champion 3yo Middle Distance Filly in Germany in 2009.
Antares is a half-sister to Gr3 Grosser Preis der Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf winner Andolini (Kallisto).
The granddam Auenpracht (General Assembly) is a half-sister to Gr2 Union-Rennen at Cologne runner-up Auenteufel (Lomitas).
Dual French Classic winner Shamardal was euthanised at Kildangan Stud in Ireland as a result of health issues in April this year.
