Starcaster is SW147 for Dansili winning Friday’s Torney Night Cup (2500m) at Moonee Valley.
Starcaster was always prominent and pressed on into the lead around the home turn, staying on well to defeat Stars Of Carrum (Fiorente) by 2-1/2 lengths with Vadiyann (Footstepsinthesand) a neck away third.
Starcaster was initially trained in Britain by Hughie Morrison and placed on both his starts at two and broke his maiden at three in handicap company over 10f at Chepstow.
Subsequently entered in the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale he was purchased by Jedd O’Keeffe for 35,000gns and went on to win by four lengths at York before being sent to Australia.
Bred by Meon Valley Stud, he is a half-brother to the Gr2 Dante Stakes victor Telecaster (New Approach), also successful in the Gr2 La Coupe last year before landing the Gr2 Grand Prix de Deauville by over six lengths and now standing at Haras du Mesnil in France.
Starcaster is also a half-brother to Newmarket Listed winner Al Suhail, their dam Dhirocco Star (Shirocco) runner-up in the Irish Oaks.
Starcaster is Dansili’s 17th stakes winner in Australia from 58 runners.
