Saturday’s Gr3 Marine Stakes (8.5f) at Woodbine winner Shirl’s Speight is SW112 for Speightstown.
Settling quickly on the lead, Shirl’s Speight made all the running to defeat Lucky Curlin (Curlin) by 2-3/4 lengths.
The Charles Fipke-homebred was unraced at two and is now the winner of both her starts.
Shirl’s Speight is out of Gr1 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf at Churchill Downs winner Lady Shirl (Perfect Soul), a half-sister to dual Gr1 winner and sire Shakespeare (Theatrical) and Gr2 winner Lady Shakespeare (Thetrical).
The granddam Lady Shirl (That’s A Nice) won 18 races including the Gr1 Flower Bowl Handicap.
Shirl’s Speight is also the 55th graded winner for Speightstown who stands at WinStar Farm in Kentucky.
