Love duly landed the odds with a minimum of fuss in Thursday’s Yorkshire Oaks.
Following the decision to bypass this race with Enable, Love started the 4/9 favourite and those that took the short odds never had a moments worry, Love sweeping into the lead a furlong out under a hand ride from Ryan Moore and accelerating away to defeat Alpinista (Frankel) by five lengths with One Voice (Camelot) in third.
It is the third Group 1 win so far this year for the Galileo filly (pictured winning The Oaks at Epsom) and Moore told ITV Racing he was always confident.
“It was straightforward. Realistically, I thought it was her easiest task for a while. There were some unexposed fillies in the race, but they needed to step up to her level,” Moore said.
“She was very professional. The ground is a bit dead today and it was a worry as when I rode her in the Debutante last year (finished fifth), the ground was a little bit too slow for her. She’s obviously got a bit stronger and the step up in trip has possibly helped.
“She’s been exceptional on every start this year. The Arc has always been in the back of everyone’s minds and we’re six weeks away, so I suppose they’ll see how she is.”
