Coolmore has announced it will add Wootton Bassett to it’s Australian roster for the 2021 southern hemisphere season.
“We are very excited by this opportunity to offer Australasian mare-owners a proven sire of Wootton Bassett’s calibre,” Coolmore Australia’s Tom Magnier said in a statement.
“He is a magnificent dark brown horse with a fabulous head and eye – a deep-girthed individual with very good hindquarter and hip and a really good, purposeful action.
“Wootton Bassett is by a sire well known to Australasians, Iffraaj, sire already of 10 Group 1 winners, 5 in each hemisphere, including Australian and New Zealand Group 1 winners like Jungle Cat, Jon Snow, Turn Me Loose, Gingernuts and Wyndspelle.”
Wootton Bassett is the sire of Gr1 winners Almanzor, Wooded and Audarya among his 17 stakes winners to date.
Winner of the Gr1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp at two, Wootton Bassett commenced his stud career at the Haras d’Etreham at a fee of €6,000 for the 2017 season.
In 2020 he was advertised at €40,000 before his purchase by Coolmore where he is advertised at €100,000 this year in Ireland.
