Graceful Girl is the second Gr1 winner for Nicconi with a dominant win in Saturday’s Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot.
Graceful Girl was last passing halfway before unleashing a big finish widest of all in the home straight to overwhelm her rivals and win going away comfortably.
The Peters homebred is now the winner of six of her 11 starts, placing in another four and with earnings of A$883,000.
She is the second Gr1 winner for Nicconi after champion sprinter Nature Strip and one of 24 stakes winners for her sire who is standing at Widden’s Victorian farm in 2021 advertised at $27,500 this season.
Graceful Girl is a sister to Gr3 Colonel Reeves Stakes winner State Solicitor and half-sister to seven other winners including Gr2 West Australian Derby winner Respondent (Haradasun) and Gr3 Colonel Reeves Stakes third Long Beach (I Am Invincible).
Their dam Avenida Madero (Metal Storm) won 13 races in Perth including the Gr2 Lee Steere Stakes, Gr3 Roma Cup and A J Scahill Stakes.
Further back and Graceful Girl descends from the 1953 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Queen Mark (Remarc), a sister to WA Oaks and Champion Fillies Stakes winner Dawdie.
