King’s Legacy went some way towards justifying his $A1.4 million yearling price tag with a determined win in the Gr3 B J McLachlan Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm.
Racing for just the second time, King’s Legacy gradually asserted his authority over Every Rose (Choisir) to pull clear in the closing stages to score by half a length with Euphoric Summer (Not A Single Doubt) back in third.
King’s Legacy is SW 170 for the late Redoute’s Choice) and is the sixth SW from 20 runners by the stallion out of a mare by Hussonet (Mr Prospector), headed by South African Champion 2YO Filly Majmu.
Redoute’s Choice’s leading sire son Not A Single Doubt has the Gr1 winner Extreme Choice and Gr2 winner Gunnison out of mares by Hussonet, who stood alongside Redoute’s Choice at Arrowfield towards the end of his stud career.
King’s Legacy is the first foal to race for his dam Breakfast In Bed (Hussonet), a seven-time winner and Listed placed in Queensland.
Breakfast In Bed is a half-sister to Gr1 Flight Stakes winner Oohood (I Am Invincible) and the granddam Bella Sunday (Sunday Silence) won twice in Sydney and a half-sister to Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice).
