The decision has been made to retire Group 1 winner Loving Gaby.
Co-trainer Ciaron Maher issued a statement on Tuesday morning saying Loving Gaby was suffering from heat and inflammation in the near-fore leg and the decision had to end her spring preparation prematurely and retire the four-year-old.
The Phoenix Thoroughbreds-owned Loving Gaby won twice at Group 1 level in the 2019 Manikato Stakes and the William Reid Stakes earlier this year, both races at Moonee Valley where she had three starts for as many wins, the other being the Group 3 Scarborough Stakes.
Overall Loving Gaby won four of her 13 races and was also second four times at Group 1 level in the Newmarket Handicap, Darley Sprint, Champagne Stakes and ATC Sires’ Produce.
No mating plans have been announced for the daughter of I Am Invincible.
