Even So is the 5th Gr1 winner for Camelot after winning Saturday’s Irish Oaks (12f) at The Curragh.
Even So came with her challenge inside the final two furlongs to finish best and defeat the favourite Cayenne Pepper (Australia) by two lengths with Passion (Galileo) a half-length away third.
Last start winner of the Listed Oaks Trial at Naas, the Ger Lyons-trained Even So has now won three of her six starts and placed in a further two.
Inbred 4×2 Danehill, she is the best of seven winners left by Breeze Hill (Danehill), purchased by agent Paul Moroney for 150,000gns at the 2003 Tattersalls December Sale and subsequently a winner over 2100m in New Zealand when trained by his brother Mike.
Breeze Hill is a three-quarter sister to Listed St Hugh’s Stakes at Newbury winner Sumora (Danehill), the dam of Champion 2YO filly Maybe (Galileo), herself the dam of 2000 Gns winner Saxon Warrior (Deep Impact).
Breeze Hill is also a half-sister to The Derby winner Dr Devious (Ahonoora), and SW’s Royal Court (Sadler’s Wells), Archway (Thatching) and Shinko King (Fairy King).
Another half-sister Rain Flower left The Oaks winner Dancing Rain (Danehill Dancer), herself the dam of stakes winners Magic Lily (New Approach) and Jalmoud (New Approach).
Breeze Hill is also a half-sister to Band Of Angels (Alzao), the unraced granddam of Australian Group 3 winner Awesome Planet (Giant’s Causeway), the dam of Gr1 Emirates Stakes winner Awesome Rock (Fastnet Rock).
Champion Camelot (Montjeu) also has Gr3 winners Alounak, Wait Forever and Degraves out of mares from the Danehill sire-line while Montjeu sired Gr1 winner Sally Lynx out of a mare by Danehill and 2013 Irish Oaks winner Chicquita out of a mare by Dansili (Danehill)
