Lupo Nero is the first SW for American Devil winning Tuesday’s Prix Tantieme (1600m) at Saint-Cloud.
Settled straight on the lead by Pierre-Charles Boudot, Lupo Nero enjoyed an unchallenged lead to the home turn, staying on gamely to hold the late flourish from Mon Ami L’Ecossais (Orpen) to score by half a length with Telemaque (War Front) a further 2-1/2 lengths further back in third.
It is the third win from seven starts for American Devil unsold at €150,000 at the recent Arqana Arc sale.
Bred by Écurie Haras de Quetieville, Isabelle and Pascale Sels, Lupo Nero is a half-brother to five-time winner and three-times Listed-placed in France Black Max (Fuisse), their dam the 2yo winner and Listed-placed in the Prix Ronde de Nuit Okapina (Okawango).
She is a half-sister to Listed Prix Saraca at Maisons-Laffitte winner All Speedy (Pyramus) and the fourth dam is Oppenheim-Rennen winner Anselma (Caracol), a half-sister to German Champion Abary (Roi Dagobert).
Gr3 winner American Devil (American Post) currently has 21 winners from 55 runners from three crops of racing age.
He is advertised at €2500 at Haras du Grand Chesnaie in France in 2020.
