Speak Of The Devil is SW16 for Wootton Bassett defeating Mageva (Wootton Bassett) in Thursday’s Prix de Saint-Cyr (1400m) for 3yo fillies at ParisLongchamp.
Held up as usual, Speak Of The Devil came with her challenge in the home straight to reel in Mageva, which looked the winner 200m out, by half a length with Kraqante (Bated Breath), a stablemate of the winner, third.
Previously runner-up in the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches, Speak Of The Devil sold for €45,000 as a foal at the Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale then for €62,000 as a Arqana October yearling to trainer Fabrice Chappet.
Speak of The Devil is a half-sister to three-time UK Gr3 winner Morando (Kendargent).
Her dam Moranda (Indian Rocket) won at Maisons-Laffitte and a sister to French Listed winner Matwan, the dam of Gr3 Prix de Saint Georges winner Batwan and this year’s Prix Ronde de Nuit winner Wanaway.
Moranda is also a half-sister to Gr3 Prix de Meautry winner Myasun (Panis).
Wootton Bassett (Iffraaj) now stands at Coolmore Stud in Ireland.
