Wednesday’s Gr3 Sceptre Stakes (7f) at Doncaster winner Foxtrot Lady is SW20 for Foxwedge.

Midfield in the early stages, Foxtrot Lady finished strongly on the outside rail to defeat Althiqa (Dark Angel) by 1-1/4 lengths with Bounce The Blues (Excelebration) in third.

It is the fifth win from 28 starts for the Jeff Smith homebred 5yo trained by Andrew Balding.

Inbred 3×3 to Danehill, Foxtrot Lady is a half-sister to Dancing Star (Aqlaam), which also won the Sceptre Stakes.

Their dam Strictly Dancing (Danehill Dancer) a winning half-sister to Listed placed Verne Castle (Sakhee’s Secret) and to the dam of Gr2 Prix du Conseil de Paris at Longchamp winner and Gr1 placed Norse King (Norse Dancer).

The granddam is Gr1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York winner Lochangel (Night Shift), a half-sister to Champion sprinter Lochsong.

Gr1 winner Foxwedge shuttled to Whitsbury Manor Stud in England and has Listed winners Hertford Dancer, Infamous Fox and Sacred Magnate inbred to Danehill.

He is now a permanent resident at Woodside Park Stud in Victoria, Australia, where his fee in 2020 is advertised at $11,000.
