Sunday’s Gr3 Premio Carlo d’Alessio (2400m) winner at Capannelle Walderbe is SW5 for Maxios.
Settled just behind the leading group by Mickaelle Michel to the home turn, Walderbe quickened into the lead 200m out and went clear, defeating Time Shanakill (Lord Shanakill) by 2-1/4 lengths with Pretending (Librettist) third.
It is the fourth win from 20 starts for Walderbe, which sold for €17,000 as a BBAG October yearling.
Inbred 3×4 to Nureyev, he is the first foal of Waldfee (Dai Jin), an unraced half-sister to six-time Gr3 winner and sire Wiesenpfad (Waky Nao), Gr3 Hackwood Stakes at Newbury winner Walspfad (Shamardal) and German Listed winner Waldtraut (Oasis Dream).
Gr1 Prix du Moulin winner Maxios (Monsun) now stands in Ireland at Coolmore Castlehyde Stud where he is advertised at €6000 in 2020.
