9 for Brazen Beau

North Pacific is SW9 for Brazen Beau following his impressive win in Saturday’s Gr2 Up and Coming Stakes (1300m) at Randwick.

Racing just behind the lead before switching wide out on the heavy (10) surface, North Pacific struck the front 200m out and then drew right away to score by 5-1/4 lengths over Bazooka (Smart Missile) with Marsannay (Snitzel) back in third.

Trained by Hawkes Racing, North Pacific sold for $800,000 at the Inglis Melbourne yearling sale and is now the winner of two of his three starts for Hong Kong-based Orbis Bloodstock.

He is the first winner for Up In Lights (O’Reilly), a half-sister to the New Zealand Listed-placed pair of Spin Doctor (Pins) and Poniard (Reliable Man).

The granddam Love The Limelight (Octagonal) won at Trentham in New Zealand and a half-sister to Gr1 winner Metal Bender.

Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Brazen Beau (I Am Invincible) also shuttled under the Darley banner to England.  He is advertised at $49,500 at Darley’s Northwood Park in Victoria in 2020.
