Mangoustine is SW78 for Dark Angel winning Thursday’s Criterium de Lyon (1600m) for 2yos.
Settled in fourth place through the early stages, Mangoustine was sent into the lead early 300m out and earned pats from Christophe Soumillon towards the finish, easing down to defeat Toimy Son (Twilight Son) by one length with Roccia Nera (Dream Ahead) in third place.
Mangoustine sold for €46,000 as an Arqana yearling and is now the winner of both her starts.
Her dam Zotilla (Zamindar) is a half-sister to three stakes winners including Gr1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner Flotilla (Mizzen Mast) and North American Listed winner Louvakhova (Maria’s Mon), the dam of two stakes winners including Gr3 Gallinule Stakes at The Curragh winner Crossfirehurricane (Kitten’s Joy).
The granddam Louvain (Sinndar) won the Gr3 Miesque Stakes at Hollywood Park and a half-sister to Gr1 Haydock Sprint Cup winner G Force (Tamayuz).
