Thursday’s Criterium de Lyon (1600m) winner Darkness is SW38 for Siyouni.

Settled in third place on the outside as Ever Pink set the pace, Darkness did best to defeat Euphoria (Sepoy) by a short-neck in a driving finish with Colosseo (Street Boss) in third.

It is the third win from five starts for the Jean-Claude Rouget-trained Darkness, a €220,000 Arqana Deauville August yearling purchase by Gerard Larrieu.

Bred by Ecurie Haras du Cadran and Ecurie Melanie, Darkness is the only named foal out of the dual winner Kerila (Makfi), a half-sister to the Gr3 Prix du Bois at Chantilly winner Keratiya (Iron Mask), the Listed Prix Hampton at Maisons-Laffitte winner Kerasona (Oasis Dream) and the French Listed-placed pair Kermiyan (Green Desert) and Kerman (Invincible Spirit).

The granddam Kerasha (Daylami) won at Saint-Cloud at two and is a half-sister to Irish Listed winner Kermiyana (Green Desert) and the third-dam Keraka (Storm Bird) won the Gr3 Anglesey Stakes.

Darkness is 4×5 Danzig and Siyouni, out of a Danehill mare, has Gr1 winners Laurens and Dream And Do with duplications of Danzig while his French Listed winner Straight Right is out of a mare by Tiger Hill (Danehill).
