Cepheus is SW72 for Sea The Stars winning Thursday’s Prix Arcangues (2500m) at Deauville.
A little worse than midfield to halfway, Cepheus moved closer approaching the home turn and then quickened into the lead 200m out and stayed on well to defeat Lord Achilles (Rio de la Plata) by 1-1/4 lengths with Brokeback Mountain (Le Havre) in third.
It is the third win from 10 starts for the Biddestone Stud-bred Cepheus.
Cepheus is one of two winners out of Crimson Cheer (Van Nistelrooy), a half-sister to Gr3 Princess Margaret Stakes winner Mythical Girl (Gone West), the dam of Turkish Champion Toruk Macto (Authorized) and granddam of New Zealand Gr1 1 winner Vespa (Elusive City) and Australian Gr3 winner Hazzabeel (Zabeel).
Cepheus is inbred 3×2 to his granddam Yousefia (Danzig), a Listed winner at Hollywood Park and a sister to Gr1 winner and leading sire Green Desert (Danzig), the grandsire of Sea The Stars (Cape Cross).
Cepheus is out of a mare by Van Nistelrooy (Storm Cat) and Champion Sea The Stars has Gr3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes winner Star Storm out of a mare by Storm Cat as well as Gr1 Sydney Cup winner Shraaoh and Gr2 winner Raheen House with Storm Cat as their maternal grandsire.
