Sunny Queen is the 7th Gr1 winner for Camelot and his 4th this year winning Sunday’s Grosser Preis von Bayern (2400m) at Munich, the final Gr1 contest in Europe this year.
Sunny Queen came between horses in the home straight to overwhelm Torquator Tasso (Adlerflug) close home and score by a neck with Dicaprio (Adlerflug) a further 2-1/4 lengths away in third.
Previously twice a Listed winner, it is the third win from six starts for the Anahita Stables-bred Sunny Queen, sold for €35,000 as a BBAG yearling to Stefan Hahne.
She is a half-sister to four winners including German Listed winner Suestado (Monsun), their dam Suivi (Darshaan) a winner four times in Germany and a half-sister to four stakes winners including Gr1 Grosser Mercedes-Benz Preis winner Simoun (Monsun) and German Listed winner Soudaine (Monsun), the dam of Gr2 Grand Prix de Deauville winner and Deutsches Derby runner-up Savoir Vivre (Adlerflug) and French Listed winner Sussudio (Nayef).
Suivi is also a half-sister to German Listed winning two-year-old Soignee (Dashing Blade), the dam of Champion Stacelita (Monsun), six-time Gr1 winner of the Prix de Diane and the dam of Yushun Himba winner Soul Stirring (Frankel).
The Derby winner Camelot (Montjeu) stands at Coolmore Stud in Ireland where he was advertised at €40,000 in 2020. In addition to Sunny Queen he also has Gr1 winners Sir Dragonet, Russian Camelot and Even so this year.
