Gr.3 Auraria Stakes (1800m) at Morphettville winner Silent Sovereign is the 54th stakes winner for Dalakhani.
Trained by Tony and Calvin McEvoy, Silent Sovereign is owned and bred by 91-year-old Don Moyle and a half-sister to Morphettville Guineas winner Silent Command (Commands), their dam Silent Surround (Face Value) won the Gr.3 South Australian Sires’ Produce Stakes.
Winner of eight of his nine starts for the Aga Khan when trained by Alain de Royer Dupre, the grey son of dual Listed winner Daltawa (Miswaki) was beaten only once in nine starts when finishing second to another Aga Khan homebred, Alamshar (Key Of Luck), in the Gr.1 Irish Derby.
A Darshaan half-brother to multiple Gr.1 winner Daylami (Doyoun) and New Zealand-based sire Dalghar (Anabaa), Dalakhani won the Gr.1 Criterium International at two followed by Gr.1 wins in the Prix Lupin and Prix du Jockey Club and culminating in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe the following season at three when he was named Horse of the Year & Champion 3YO in Europe in 2003.
Dalakhani shuttled to Cornerstone Stud in Australia for three seasons and was retired from stud duties at Haras de Bonneval at the age of 16.
