36 for Zoffany

Thunder Moon overcame traffic to land Sunday’s National Stakes (7f) for 2yos at The Curragh and become the third Gr1 winner for Zoffany.

Supplemented into the race after a debut win, Thunder Moon was held up behind the leaders before Declan McDonagh made room for himself and Thunder Moon was then able to quicken through between horses and go on to defeat Wembley (Galileo) and St Mark’s Basilica (Siyouni).

Bred by Annemarie O’Brien, Thunder Moon is a three-quarter brother to Sir Henry Cecil Stakes at Newmarket winner Table Rock (Fastnet Rock).

Their dam Small Sacrifice (Sadler’s Wells) is a sister to Out Of Thanks, the winning dam of Gr3 Sirenia Stakes at Kempton winner Love Lockdown (Verglas) and a half-sister to Tiny Petal (Grand Lodge), the unraced dam of Gr1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner Vert de Grece (Verglas).

Thunder Moon’s third-dam Gr1 Irish 1000 Gns winner Trusted Partner (Affirmed) is also the granddam of Sunday’s Irish St Leger winner Search For A Show (Galileo).

Thunder Moon is also the 36th SW for Gr1 winner Zoffany (Dansili), advertised at €22,500 at Coolmore Stud in Ireland in 2020.
