Laburnum is SW324 for Galileo after winning Wednesday’s Hurry Harriet Stakes (9.5f) at Gowran Park.
Laburnum finished a creditable fourth in the Irish Oaks at her previous start and had no trouble dropping back in distance here, striking the front early in the home straight before staying on determinedly to defeat Ennistymon (Galileo) by 1-1/4 lengths with A New Dawn (Zoffany) a half length away in third.
She is a sister to Gr1 Irish 2000 Guineas and Criterium International winner and sire Roderic O’Connor and to the Irish Listed winner Dazzling.
Laburnum is also a half-sister to the Gr3 Sirenia Stakes at Kempton placed Weatherstaff (Elusive Quality).
Their dam Secret Garden (Danehill) won at Listed level in England and North America and is a sister-in-blood to Australian stakes winner Cassis (Danehill)>
Galileo has enjoyed great success with mares by Danehill, notably Gr1 winners Frankel, Teofilo, Intello, Highland Reel, Golden Lilac, Cape Of Good Hope, Deauville, Cima de Triomphe, Noble Mission, Japan, Romantica Tapestry and Search For A Song.
