3 for Sweynesse

Brix is SW3 for Sweynesse winning Saturday’s Challenge Stakes (1100m) for 2yos at Pukekohe.

Smothered away in fifth place along the inside, Brix had to switch off heels but once into clear running room 200m out finished best of all to defeat Quattro Quinta (Darci Brahma) and Cool Change (Showcasing).

It is the first win in four starts for Brix, a $45,000 New Zealand Bloodstock Book2 January yearling purchase by trainer Glen Harvey when offered by Kilgravin Lodge.

She is a half-sister to the Sydney and Melbourne winner Jay Jay D’Ar (Pins) and six-time winner Imminent (Ekraar).

The dam Somethymesoon (Postponed) won twice in New Zealand and finished runner-up in the Gr3 Eulogy Stakes at Manawatu, she a sister to Post Thyme, a Listed winner in Australia and New Zealand.

The fourth dam is Listed-placed Miss Marjoram (Sir Tristram) and further back this is the family of Champions Taj Rossi and Storm Queen.

Gr3 winner Sweynesse (Lonhro) is advertised at $6000 at Novara Park Stud in New Zealand in 2020.

Two of his three stakes winners – Bonita Aurelia and Only Words – are out of mares carrying Danehill in their pedigree.
