Aimee’s Jewel is SW3 for Proisir after winning Wednesday’s Gr3 Valachi Downs Canterbury Breeders’ Stakes (1400m) at Riccarton.
Going back from a wide draw, Aimee’s Jewel was still near last around the home turn before unleashing a big finish to overwhelm Irish Girl (El Roca) with Excelleration (Fastnet Rock) making ground late on for third.
Bred by Suncroft Bloodstock, Aimee’s Jewel sold for $10,000 as a yearling to Troy Pannell from the Curraghmore draft at the Karaka May Mixed sale and is now the winner of three of her five starts for trainer Trudy Keegan.
The four-year-old is a half-sister to seven-time winner Air Striker (Pentire) and Aimees Babe (Postponed), the winning dam of today’s runner-up Irish Girl.
The dam Aimee’s Idol (Colombia) won six times including the Listed Waikato Sprint and the fourth dam Kingston Star (Star Of Heaven) won the Byron Moore Stakes at Flemington at two.
Gr3 winner Proisir (Choisir) also has Gr3 winner Vitesse Bo out of a mare by Colombia (Zabeel) as well as New Zealand Oaks third Feel The Rush out of a mare by Zabeel.
He stands at Rich Hill Stud in New Zealand where he was advertised at $9000 in 2020.
