3 for Mehmas

Minzaal is first-crop SW3 for Mehmas after winning the Gr2 Gimcrack Stakes (6f) at York.

Back in the pack through the first half, Minzaal came through smoothly after halfway to press for the lead then stayed on well to defeat Devilwala (Kodiac) by two lengths with Mystery Smiles (Mehmas) close up third.

It is the second win from three starts for Minzaal, sold for 85,000gnsa as a Tattersalls December foal than for 140,000gns as a Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 2.

A half-brother to five-time South Africa winner Cabo da Cruz (Cape Cross), Minzaal’s dam Pardoven (Cape Cross) is a half-sister to four stakes horses including six-time winner Firebet (Dubai Destination), runner-up in the Gr3 Gordon Stakes at Goodwood.

The granddam Dancing Prize (Sadler’s Wells) placed in the Lingfield Oaks Trial and a sister to Gr1 Fillies Mile at Ascot runner-up Dance To The Top, the dam of UAE Gr2 winner Bankable and French Gr3 winner Cheshitre.

Dancing Prize is also a half-sister to Listed winner Polar Bear (Polar Falcon) and the third-dam is Italian Gr3 winner Aim For The Top (Irish River).

Tally Ho Stud-based Mehmas (Acclamation) currently leads the European first-season sires’ list with 21 winners including Gr2 Richmond Stakes winner Supremacy and the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes at Newbury winner Method.
