110 for Savabeel

Milford is SW110 for Savabeel breaking his maiden in Sunday’s Gingernuts Salver (2100m) for 3yos at Ellerslie.

Turning for home in fifth place, Milford quickened up in good style to run to the front 100m out an then hold the late flourish from Cheaperthandivorce (Savabeel) to score by three-quarters of a length with Edge Of Wonder (Tavistock) in third.

Bred and sold by Waikato Stud, Milford was purchased by bloodstock agent Bruce Perry for $360,000 on behalf of Lib Petagna from Book 1 at the 2019 NZB National Yearling Sale at Karaka.

Milford is the only foal to race out of Etiquette (O’Reilly), an unraced sister to four-time Gr1 winner Sacred Falls, whose wins included the New Zealand 2000 Guineas and two runnings of the Doncaster Handicap at Randwick.

Etiquette is also a three-quarter sister to Gr3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes at Caulfield winner Splashing Out (O’Reilly), the dam of Gr2 Challemge Stakes at Manawatu winner Splurge (Savabeel)  and Group winners Shopaholic (Pins) and Packing Pins (Pins).

The third-dam Iguazu (Carolingian) won 12 races in New Zealand including the Gr3 Manawatu Classic and White Robe Lodge Handicap.

Gr1 winner Savabeel (Zabeel) is the sire of Gr1 winners Diademe, Costume, Savaria and Embellish out of mares by O’Reilly as well as Group winners Coldplay, Splurge, Chintz, The Real Beel, Amarelinha, Missybeel and Love Affair.

His New Zealand Oaks winner Savvy Coup has O’Reilly as her maternal grandsire.
