22 for Magnus

Front Page is SW22 for Magnus after winning Saturday’s A.R. Creswick Stakes (1200m) for three-year-olds at Flemington.

Front Page struck the front 400m out and then drew away for a dominant 2-3/4 length win over Hi Stranger (Zoffany) with Merited (Fastnet Rock) a nose away in third.

Bred and part-owned by Paul Duryea, Front Page is a brother to Listed placed News Girl, a winner three times in Melbourne and runner-up in the Gr3 Kevin Hayes Stakes and Gr3 Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes at Caulfield.

Front Page and News Girl are out of Stacey Lee (Bel Esprit), purchased by trainer Geoff Duryea for $20,000 at the 2009 Inglis Australian Select Weanling Sale. She went on to win five races at sprint distances and place in Melbourne.

The granddam Curio Jade (Varick) won at two and finished second in the Listed Doomben Slipper Stakes in Brisbane.

Gr1 winner Magnus (Flying Spur) is advertised at $15,400 at Sun Stud in Victoria in 2020.
