Dualist is the second first-crop SW for Mikki Isle winning Wednesday’s Hyogo Junior Grand Prix (1400m) on dirt at Sonoda.
Aided by a low draw Dualist was able to hold the inside and led out of the straight the first time, making all the running and, clear into the home straight, held off the late rally from Ladybug (Hokko Tarumae) to score by half a length with Zenno Ange (Henny Hughes) a further four lengths away third.
The Northern Farm-bred Dualist is now the winner of his three starts.
A half-brother to Listed-placed Dual Sword (Durandal), Dualist’s dam Dual Story was Listed-placed twice in Japan and a three-wuasrter sister to Japanese stakes winner Strong Memory and the US stakes winner and Gr1 Kentucky Oaks third Sweeping Story as well as a half-sister to US stakes winner Open Story (Open Forum).
The granddam Diablo’s Story (Diablo) won the Natalma Stakes in Canada and a sister to Canadian Champion 2YO Exciting Story.
Champion Japanese Sprinter Mikki Isle commenced stud duty in Japan and Australia in 2017. He was advertised at ¥1,500,000 at Shadai Stallion Station in 2020.
