Chapada is SW2 for Bullet Train winning Saturday’s Gr2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield.
Smothered away along the inside in a moderately run contest until the home turn, Chapada was able to split rivals and accelerated into the lead with 200m to go, comfortably defeating Zebrowski (Savabeel) by 1-1/4 lengths with Platinum Invader (Redwood) third.
Inbred 4×4 to Danzig, it is the third win from 23 starts for the Mike Moroney-trained 5yo Chapada, a $32,500 Inglis Classic yearling which placed in the Victoria Derby and Rosehill Guineas at three.
He is the best of three winners left by Diamantina Dior (Oasis Dream) with the granddam Diamantina (Linamix) an unraced sister to Gr2 Prix Greffulhe winner Diamond Mix and Gr3Prix de Royaumont winner Diasilixa.
Diamantina is also a three-quarter sister to Gr2 Prix de Malleret winner Diamalina (Linamix), thegranddam of Irish Derby winner Capri (Galileo) and to Dali’s Grey (Linamix), the dam of Gr3 Geelong Cup winner Bauer (Halling).
A three-quarter brother to Frankel, Bullet Train (Sadler’s Wells) originally retired to Bowness Stud in Australia and is now standing at Woodfield Farm Stud in Ireland where he is listed as ‘private’ in 2020.
