Desert Lord is SW134 for High Chaparral winning Friday’s Goldmarket Handicap (1200m) at Gold Coast
Settled just behind the early speed in fifth place, Desert Lord was angled out into running room in the home straight and finished best of all to defeat Tramonto (Wandjina) and Totally Charmed (I Am Invincible).
It is the seventh win for the seven-year-old, previously placed in the Glasshouse Handicap at Sunshine Coast.
Desert Lord is a half-brother to South African Listed winner Acrostar (Danehill Dancer), their dam Nova Star (Iglesia) winner of the Gr1 Winter Stakes at Eagle Farm and a half-sister to Gr3 Adrian Knox Stakes placed Novanediym (Nediym).
The granddam Filnova (Luskin Star) an unraced half-sister to Gr3 Champagne Classic at Doomben winner Dolce Veloce (Integra).
High Chaparral was euthanised at Coolmore Stud in Ireland in 2014 aged 15 as a result of colic surgery.
