Alignak is SW11 for Sea The Moon after winning Saturday’s Stand Cup (12.5f) at Chester.
Alignak stalked the speed set by Hereby before drawing alongside into the home straight and proved strongest in the run to the line defeating Morando (Kendargent) by one length with Hereby (Pivotal) a further 4-1/4 lengths away third.
It is the third win from eight starts for the Kirsten Rausing homebred four-year-old.
Alignak is the fourth stakes winner for his dam, the three-time Gr1 winner Albanova (Alzao) following Gr3 Arc Trial at Newbury winner Algometer (Archipenko), French Listed winner All At Sea (Sea The Stars), Alwilda (Hernando), the dam of UK Listed winner and Gr1 Yorkshire Oaks runner-up Alpinista (Frankel).
Albanova is a sister to dual Champion Stakes winner Alborada.
The granddam is Irish Listed winner Alouette (Darshaan).
