The Gr1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains winner Olmedo has been retired from racing and will take up stud duties in Australia at Aquis Farm in Queensland for the 2020 breeding season.
The son of Declaration Of War won by four lengths on debut at Deauville before finishing second in the Gr3 Prix des Chênes and Gr1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardére.
At three he won the Poule d’Essai des Poulains at Longchamp and then the Gr3 Prix Gontaut-Biron at four. He had one run in Australia at five.
“Olmedo is the perfect stallion for Queensland and Aquis,” Aquis CEO Tony Williams said in a statement.
“He is the highest rated son of Declaration Of War, the French Champion Two-Year-Old in 2017, a French 2,000 Guineas winner at three, like Shamardal and Lope De Vega before him, and he trained on to further Stakes success at four, confirming his class and durability.”
