Krone produced a strong finish in the home straight to win Saturday’s Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill.
Krone is in career-best form and landed her third stakes in succession here following wins in the Magic Millions Fillies and Mares, Gr.2 Guy Walter Stakes and now the Coolmore in quick succession, collecting just over $1 million for connections after nearly being sold as a broodmare last year!
Held up just behind the lead in a fast-run race to the home turn, Krone was able to split rivals inside the final 200m to burst through and score a strong win.
It is the sixth win from 26 starts for Krone, whose earnings now top $1.427m.
Krone is the best horse sired by Gr.2 winner Eurozone (Northern Meteor), whose three stakes winners – Krone, Mystery Love and Global Impact – are all out of mares with sons of Danehill in their pedigree.
Eurozone (Northern Meteor) was advertised at $5,000 at Bellereve Stud in Canberra last season.
Krone is a half-sister to Sydney winner Cyber Intervention (So You Think), their dam Soft Landing (Al Maher) a half-sister to four-time Gr1 winner Universal Prince (Scenic), whose wins included the Australian Derby and Ranvet Stakes, and Gr1 Robert Sangster Stakes winner Universal Queen (Scenic).
Soft Landing is also a half-sister to Razzia (Scenic), the dam of Gr2 Karrakatta Plate in Perth winner Lucy Mae (Stratum) and granddam of L.R. Bagot Handicap at Flemington winner Averau (Stratum) as well as to Personal Service (Zabeel), the unraced dam of Gr3 Liverpool City Cup at Warwick Farm winner Think It Over (So You Think).
Soft Landing has a two-year-old filly by Fighting Sun (Northern Meteor) and was covered last season by Vino Rosso (Curlin).
