Sealiway is the first Gr1 winner for Galiway winning Sunday’s Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (1400m) at ParisLongchamp.
Tracking the early leader Cairn Gorm to the final straight, Sealiway exploded clear 300m out and went on to defeat Nando Parrado (Kodiac) by eight lengths with Laws Of Indices (Power) third. (Pic: ScoopDyga/France Galop)
It is the fourth win from six starts for Sealiway, sold for €62,000 as an Arqana August yearling.
Sealiway is out of Listed Prix Herod at Chantilly winner Kensea (Kendargent) and is inbred to Listed-placed Blushing Away (Blushing Groom), the granddam of Galiway and dam of his maternal grandsire Gold Away (Goldneyev).
The race is a triumph for Guy Pariente, breeder of the winner, whose sire Galiway is based at his stud farm in Colleville, and who also bred Kensea.
Winner of the Listed Prix Le Fabuleux over 1800m at Maisons-Laffitte and Gr3 placed, Galiway (Galileo) is advertised at €10,000 at the Haras de Colleville in France in 2020.
Perhaps unsurprisingly he has already enjoyed good success with mares by Kendargent (Kendor), who also stands at Haras de Colleville with his Group winners Sealiway and Kenway out of mares by Kendargent as well as three other winners.
