Ebeko is the first SW for Awtaad winning Sunday’s Zuma Beach Stakes (8f) for 2yos at Santa Anita.
Ebeko raced wide in third place to the home turn where he came to challenge, gradually getting on top of Tarantino (Pioneerofthenile) in the final half-furlong to score by a nose with Cotopaxi (Sir Prancealot) in third.
Ebeko sold for 20,000gns at Book2 at last year’s Tattersalls October yearling Sale and had previously finished runner-up in the Gr2 Champions Juvenile Stakes in Ireland.
He is a half-brother to London Tesoro (Exceed And Excel), a three-time winner in Japan, their dam Allegrezza (Sir Percy), a winning half-sister to Gr2 Prix Chaudenay winner Canticum (Cacique).
Irish 2000 Guineas winner Awtaad (Cape Cross) is advertised at €15,000 at Derrinstown Stud in Ireland in 2020.
