Elite Street joined the elite club with victory in Saturday’s Gr1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot.
Elite Street began well and was positioned midfield, just behind the leaders to the home turn. Able to swing wide into the home straight Elite Street struck the front 100m out and then held off the fast finish of Celebrity Queen.
Elite Street only won his first race in June and this was his first start in a stakes race. He is now the winner of five of his eight starts.
He is the sixth Gr.1 winner and 42nd stakes winner for Street Boss (Street Cry) who also has Gr.3 winners Hanseatic, Petits Filous and Tris out of mares by Exceed And Excel (Danehill).
Elite Street is the only winner for his dam Elite Ateates (Exceed And Excel), a winner of five races including two in Brisbane.
The granddam Ateates (Zeditave) won four times at Gr.2 level including the Expressway Stakes and Silver Shadow Stakes at Randwick as well as finishing third in the Gr1 Goodwood Handicap at Morphettville. She is a sister to Gr.1 Newmarket Handicap at Flemington winner Ruffles and to Torelgo, the dam of Gr2 Queensland Guineas winner True Glo (Brief Truce).
The third-dam Paris Miss (Opera Prince) won the Gr.3 Light Fingers Stakes at Randwick.
Dual Gr.1 winner Street Boss shuttles between Darley Studs in Kentucky and Australia, he is advertised at $27,500 at Darley Northwood Park in Victoria in 2020.
