A €620,000 daughter of Dubawi topped the first day of the Arqana Select Sale in Deauville on Wednesday.
Offered by Baroda Stud, the filly (pic: Arqana/Zuzanna Lupa) out of German Gr3 winner Daytona Bay was eventually knocked down to Anthony Stroud for €620,000, the agent confirming to the auction house the purchase was made on behalf of Godolphin.
“She’s a lovely filly – very athletic and with great confirmation. We’ve already had a lot of success with Dubawi,” Stroud said
“There was a lot of interest in the filly and so we are very happy to have her. We’re delighted to be here at Deauville.”
The highest priced colt was a €480,000 son of Lope de Vega which sold to Sebastien Desmontils under his Chauvigny Global Equine banner.
The future destination for Haras du Mezeray-consigned chestnut is yet to be decided.
“He’s a son of Lope de Vega, an established stallion out a very current family that we know well in France.,” Desmontils said.
“We are very happy. I’ve bought him for a Japanese client. We don’t yet know where he’ll go into training, all will be decided after he is broken and in view of the other colts that we might buy, however he will stay in France.”
